Need help on Virtual Villagers?

I have 7 Virtual Villagers,about 32,000 tech points,and very little food for my villagers. The lake that they use to fish in have algae,and I think I might have a low supply of coconuts.I'm on level two farming and engineering,and on level one medicine,science,exploration,and culture.I don't know how to farm,and two of my villagers already died. I need some advice on how to stay alive on Virtual Villagers,so please help me out! Thanks!
