Is a desktop nuclear explosion feasible?

If one bombarded natural uranium at home with neutrons long enough and made tiny little components using a grain of polonium here, a grain of plutonium there and so on and so on, could one make a nuclear explosion say about as powerful as a standard firecracker? With a nice bright flash and a foot high mushroom cloud and everything? That sure would impress my friends.
