Best X LARGE BREED DOG for a couple with high energy dogs?

I had three St Bernard's (not at the same time) growing up. Gentle as kittens, VERY active. Prone to hip dysplasia. Neighbors had a Newfoundland. Also very active but this one was a little rough. Go with the saint. Best. Dog. Ever.
